Our practice uses a combination of acupuncture, cupping, moxabustion, and herbal medicine.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese system of healing that views health as the balance of an individual's energy, or qi. Fine needles are inserted at specific points along meridians just under the skin. This process stimulates, disperses, and balances the flow of energy, relieves pain, and treats a variety of chronic, acute, and degenerative conditions. Master Tung's acupuncture is based on a sophisticated techniques and could use a singular acupuncture point to address multiple problems at the same time. This simple system can achieve great results in a short time, expediting relief and improving patients quality of life.
Cupping
The ancient art of cupping has been utilized by healers and lay people in many cultures. Cupping is a suction technique designed to pull toxin build-up and muscle spasm from the body’s deeper tissue to the surface of the skin. Physical pain implies a blockage in the flow of energy through a particular area. Utilizing cupping techniques we are able, by vacuum or suction, to pull the blockage out of the deeper tissue and move it to the skin’s surface. Cupping is an extraordinary technique, and its effects are immediate. The healing process may be shortened by weeks or even months by using cupping, a method that manually removes the energy blockage in ways that acupuncture needles cannot.
Moxabustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing. The purpose of moxibustion, as with most forms of traditional Chinese medicine, is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of qi, and maintain general health.
Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine is based on a system of herbal combinations that have developed from over 3,000 years of empirical observation, practitioner experience, and, more recently, clinical trials. Each herbal medicine prescription is comprised of many herbs tailored to the individual patient. A key to success in TCM is the treatment of each patient as an individual. Chinese herbology often incorporates ingredients from all parts of plants, such as the leaf, stem, flower, root, and also ingredients from animals and minerals.
